Our History

MOAS was conceptualized right from the start of Mt Olives SDA Church in 2010.  Between 2010 and 2017 the Church fundraised among its members and friends and acquired two acres of land in Ngong and built a block of classrooms for MOAS (Figure 1) which were ready for occupation by end of 2017. MOAS opened its doors to the public on 8th January 2018, with 17 pupils (Figure 2) enrolled from Play Group all the way to Class 3. Overtime the school has continued to grow steadily all to the glory of God. The total pupil population as of March 2023 stood at 364.

The school has a total 42 members of staff, 19 of whom are teaching staff. All the members of staff have been competitively recruited. The teaching staff have competencies to offer CBC and 8-4-4 curriculum. Further, some of the teachers teach music, French, gardening and cookery as co-curricular activities.

School performance and impact

MOAS has attempted KCPE (Class 8) examinations twice (2021 and 2022) with very encouraging results. In 2021 KCPE results, the school achieved a mean score of 383 marks, and became the best Adventist Primary School in the country. In 2022 KCPE examinations, MOAS achieved a mean score or 371 marks, and was the second-best Adventist school in the country. We really thank God for His doing at Mt Olives, especially in the view that this was the first and second attempts respectively for MOAS. In 2021 examinations, out of the 22 candidates 17 joined various national schools and five extra-county schools. In 2022 out of 18 pupils, 11 of them joined national schools and the rest extra county and private schools.
